Our Sweet River Dog

Two weeks ago today we lost our sweet River dog to her battle with cancer. When we found out she was sick we kind of created a bucket list for her to be sure we visited all of her favorite spots one last time. I hope you don't mind me sharing a few photos, but this blog post is for my Rivey.

I found River on a whitewater rafting trip out by the Ocoee River. She was 4 weeks old, wandering the campground alone and covered in mange. Of course, I had to bring her home. My furry monster has been through so much with me -- she raised and loved a pot belly pig, 2 ducks, a bunny, who knows how many puppies, and my roommates and I in college. It is hard to describe the love you have for your pet, but she will be missed tremendously and thought of everyday. Love you my River Ann.

The photo above is from our doggie swim spot on the Duck River. They swim out to the island and run amuck for hours. They would swim from the island back to us just for the sake of swimming.

This, I think, was River's favorite spot. It is a gorgeous waterfall in Cookeville that we went to together pretty much every day after school (Will and I both went to Tennessee Tech). I had to post the photo below so you could get the full effect of this places' awesomeness.

Below is a photo of our last weekend with River. We took her to the Smoky Mountains (the first place I took her as a pup) for some camping. She was a happy girl, snuggling up with us in the tent to keep us warm, laying by the fire eating marshmallows, and frolicking in the fields of Cades Cove.

Thanks for letting me share :-)
