A "first look" is a very special, intimate and often emotional moment. Just writing this is bringing back that indescribable feeling I had when Will and I saw each other for the first time on our wedding day. The feeling of love and excitement in that moment is so completely intense and pure and to have that moment all to yourselves is just...well, magical.
The first look is a moment that we suggest for our less traditional brides. It is a time BEFORE the wedding that we set for you and your groom to privately see each other for the first time. This allows you to share that exciting and emotional moment alone, to go ahead and release those happy tears, dance those giddy little dance moves and hug and laugh as loud and as much as you want to. It also helps relieve any nervous feelings you might have about seeing each other for the first time all day.
The first look allows you, as the bride and groom, to slow down and take in the day with your attendants and guests. Because you see each other before the ceremony, we can go ahead and have most of the formal photos taken before the ceremony allowing you to head straight to the cocktail hour/reception to welcome your guests in most cases.
We've photographed many first looks and we've photographed many weddings where the bride or groom wanted to wait to see each other during the ceremony. The decision is completely up to the two of you. As a bride who chose to do a first look, I would highly recommend at least considering it. The photos and feelings from our first look are some of my most treasured memories from that perfect day four years ago.
Here are some photos from our beautiful bride Kari and husband Mike's first look.
