On our walk today I came upon a patch of wild violets and busted out in a little happy dance - it's officially spring! As I sat there picking a tiny bouquet (getting drenched by Darci and her flybys from the creek to me), I was taken back to my childhood.
These flowers hold a special place in my heart and always put a smile on my face because they bring back vivid memories of my grandma. I was pretty young when Wah (what we called her) passed away but one memory I do have of her was her love for wild violets. Each spring she would prohibit Papa from cutting the grass when the violets were in bloom so she could look out and enjoy the flowers. I'd sit out in their backyard for hours picking her a tiny bouquet to put inside; imagining that I was a princess and that the "purple blanket" was just for me.
Hope you're allowing time in your day to get out and enjoy the flowers!
